About Us

Welcome to Peteborough Trades Union Council’s (PTUC) website. PTUC is made up of affiliated delegates from different trade union branches in Peterborough, including NASUWT, NEU, PCS, UNISON, UNITE and TSSA. Others are welcome to affiliate at any time. Our rule book can be found here.

Hybrid meetings are held every month, usually on the third Thursday, at the Peterborough Unite office. We also support events locally, such as Peterborough Pride, and nationally, such as Burston Strike Rally and Durham Miners’ Gala. You can find out more about our upcoming meetings and events by clicking on ‘Events’ in the button below:

Campaigns

PTUC promotes local and national trade union campaigns such as pay and conditions and the right to strike, and also supports local branches taking industrial action.

PTUC also passes its own motions and has sub-committees relating to campaigns that are local, national and international. To see our motions and campaigns that we are involved in, click on the ‘Campaigns’ button below.

History

PTUC delegates are proud of its history. PTUC put on an exhibition at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery in January 2025 to showcase how the trade unions council has been acting in the Peterborough community since 1899. PTUC’s rich history is starting to be built on our website – keep an eye out as this develops!
